Super Bowl XXIThe New York Giants advanced to their first Super Bowl in team history. The Giants scored 26 consecutive points during the second, third, and fourth quarters, and a Super Bowl record 30 points in the second half; to defeat the Denver Broncos 39-20.
New York quarterback Phil Simms was named the Super Bowl MVP, finishing the game with 22 of 25 passes completed for 268 yards and three touchdowns. Simms also had 25 rushing yards on 3 carries. His 22 out of 25 (88%) completion percentage not only set a Super Bowl record, but also an NFL postseason record for 21 years.
Super Bowl XXVPlayed on January 27, 1991 at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The National Football Conference (NFC) Champion New York Giants (16-3) defeated the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Buffalo Bills (15-4), 20–19, the smallest margin of victory in Super Bowl history.
Super Bowl XXV was played under much patriotic fervor, due to the Gulf War. The proceedings included a rousing rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by Whitney Houston (which, is still my favorite rendition ever).
Super Bowl XLII In one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history, the Giants (14–6) won 17–14 over the previously undefeated Patriots (18–1). In doing so, the Giants became the first NFC wild card team to win a Super Bowl.
